The first indepth television coverage in Europe about Progeria was broadcast in 1997. This report resulted in an amazing and unexpected public reaction from Germany, Austria and Switzerland. That made it possible for our most important dream to come true: the first European Family Meeting in October 1998.

Thanks to the many small and big donations, PROFACI was able to invite fifteen families for five days to the Netherlands to enjoy fairies, magicians, dance theater, white-water rafting and many other activities.

We also had the chance to share information from doctors and therapists, personal experiences and helpful conversations during these meetings.

This FAMILY MEETING will never be forgotten by the many participants from Algeria, Belarus, Yugoslawia, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, France and the Netherlands!

The conditions under which the children with "Progeria" and their families live are just as diversified as the various cultures, religions and political systems of our world. This makes the care, treatment and integration of these children in their daily lives very challenging.

Very individualized assistance and awareness about this illness are often needed to make a normal life style possible for the children and their families.
